Why only aldehydes and ketones which contain alpha hydrogen go through aldol condensation? please give a detailed answer

First of all, it can't be aldol condensation as the product would be acyloin or benzoin. ... So, inorder to get the aldol product, the presence of alpha hydrogens is hese hydrogens are more acidic than the hydrogen attached to the carbonyl group......
