why only copper plate is used for earthing?​

  • Coppers are pure materials and quite robust in nature, resistant to abrasion, less susceptible to adverse climatic conditions, and have high temperature as compared to other materials. Thus both SS and Copper offers a very long life.

  • Though GI and Copper Bonded rods have platting of Zink and Copper respectively on Mild Steel to improve the life of rods but still these rods are prone to corrosion on longer run.

  • SS rods are quite costly and GI rods have very less life. Hence copper rods or else copper bonded rods (for budget projects) are used.
