NaHCO3 precipitates out when CO2 is passed through the ammoniacal brine. It reacts to form sodium bicarbonate.

- Sodium hydrogen carbonate is totally insoluble in the solution of ammonium chlorideNH4Cl at 15C.
- It precipitates completely
- Ammonical brine is formed by the reaction of brine solution when bubbled with ammonia gas .
- When carbon dioxide is passed through these solutions it will in turn form sodium bicarbonate.
- This process is known as the Solvay's process for industrial production of sodium bicarbonate.
