Answer:

1) A national bird should not be restricted to only certain location but it should be well distributed in all over the country. Peacocks can be found in the whole of Indian subcontinent extending from Jammu and Kashmir, east Mizoram, south Assam, Indian peninsula and other warm places where they are in abundant like legions.

2) With all the beautiful colors and the poise peacocks are easily recognizable by a common man. They are well known to each and every Indian.

3) The peacocks can be used for formal depictions in Government publications.

4) It’s related to Indian history, the famous king Chandra Gupta Maurya is rumored to be child of peacock tamers. One can easily find the relationship between the two words Maurya and Mayur.

5) Peacock is related to Hindu mythology, he is the vehicle of Lord Kartikey, Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Mahamayuri. As it is majorly found in India and Shrilanka, the chances of getting it confused with any other country's emblem was nil.
