why only some parts of plants are used for making ropes

Because that part of plant is suitable for making ropes. And they are mostly from fibre plants especially jute......... They are hard also.

Because only some part's of the plants are hard enough to be a rope. We can't use a leaf to make a rope, as it isn't in that shape, and it tears easily.
