The operating system is the program that tells the computer

and the hardware.

  In other words, it acts as an interpreter for the computer interpreting

the user input into usable instructions for the computer.

   User languages are known as high level languages; these are the

instructions entered by the user. These are then converted into

"machine language" which interacts with the operating system to

perform the actual computer operations.
