Nitrogen is a very essential element or living beings. Nitrogen is required for plants to prepare amino acids that make up the proteins, which is important for their growth and survival. But plants cannot absorb nitrogen directly from air. Some leguminous plants have nitrogen fixing bacteria in their roots. These capture atmospheric nitrogen and convert them into simpler forms so that plants can absorb it.
