India adopted the Parliamentary form of democracy after getting Independence in 1947 because India hadbeen familiar with its working during the days of the British rule. ... Moreover, while in a parliamentarydemocracy, the Executive is responsible to the legislature and therefore, the opposition always keeps it alert.

Hey hope this helps!

Hi !

So, we know that India has adopted Parliamentary form of government instead of Presidential form.

Why is it so??

See, there are many things responsible for this as below which will include

Disadvantages of Presidential form and

Advantages of Parliamentary form.

Disadvantages of Presidential form -

1 Presidential form separates the executive from the legislature.

2 In this case, executive i.e. Council of Ministers do not remain accountable to the legislature.

Advantages of Parliamentary form -

1 In Parliamentary form, exucative is accountable to legislature at high level.

2 Accountability of Council of Ministers is checked by techniques like Question Hour, No-confidence Motion, etc.

So, the facts mentioned above were reasons because of which India has been adopted the ‘Parliamentary form of Government’.
