this may be true or not although many people show this kind of phenomenon ,i think it may be biological and here is my personal understanding of this phenomenon .the eyes basically uses the idea of light rays and convergence of light at the retina this gives the a reflection of the object in the eyes hence we are able to see object
for one to start using specs or the glasses it means he /she has developed a problem with the normal functioning of the eye .it can be that the image is forming behind the retina or in front of the retina , glasses therefore comes in to correct this ,the eye will therefore adjust to this changes hence may look smaller
