Why over crowding of seed is avoided?

When the seeds overcrowd , then the plants also grow out to be overcrowded due to which there is competition between them for sunlight,nutrients and water due to which they do not grow out to be healthy plants  and hence produces a poor yield. So the should be sown at proper and equal distances.
