why oxygen exists as gas while sulphur exists as solid?

Oxygen exists as O2 and is a simple molecule. But sulpher exists as S8 and has a complex structure. the structure becomes compact due to extensive bonding and as a result the molecule becomes solid.
But in O2, due to simple bonding and simple structure, the molecule exists only as a solid
