why oxygen is realeased in anode not chlorine in electrolysis of nacl

Chloride ions and hydroxide ions are attracted to the positive anode. In fact, hydroxide ions are slightly easier to discharge, but mainly what you get is chlorine. If the sodium chloride solution is reasonably concentrated, you will get mainly chlorine.
