why palladium is most expensive then gold?
Answers
Did you mean Platinum ?
Ans:
The main reason for this is that precious metals are priced by weight, and platinum is much denser than gold, meaning it will be heavier. Another reason why platinum rings are more valuable than gold is because the metal is much rarer.
OR
Rarity : Platinum is almost 30 times rarer than gold. Consider, if all the platinum ever mined were poured into an olympic size pool, it would barely reach your ankles, gold however would fill three pools.
Purity : Platinum jewelry is usually available in 95% purity whereas majority of gold jewelry is available in 75% or 58.5% purity only. So, if gold & platinum were the same price, let's say $1300/oz. 1 oz. of platinum jewelry would have platinum worth $1,235 whereas 1 oz. 18K gold jewelry would have gold worth only $975!
Dense : Platinum is about 50% denser than gold. This means platinum is much stronger than gold. But it also means that moulding & working with raw platinum to make jewelry out of it is more difficult & more expensive.
Melting Point : Platinum melts at 1,768 C whereas gold melts at 1,065 C only. Which means setting up a smelter for platinum is much more costly than setting one for gold. Which ultimately increases the cost of manufacturing jewelry.

Answer:
Platinum is the second highest valued metal.
Platinum is an expensive metal commonly found in jewellery, however, the rare metal rhodium holds more value. Part of the platinum family, rhodium is more often used to coat and protect common metals such as silver or gold. This gives jewellery its reflective white surface.
