After the independence of India, the hindus and muslims were geographically divided into India and Pakisthan heavily supported Jawarhalal Nehru.
All this began from the initial plea from Mohammad Ali Jinnah to separate a independent country for the muslim community. The British served as a spark by always wanting to divide and rule. They always wanted disgruntlement within India and Pakisthan.Heavy loss of life and property took place when the people moved. Despite of the reason for the partition many muslims were left behind in India.
Maybe Jinnah, simply wished to use the demand for a separate state as a bargaining chip to win greater power for Muslims within a loosely federated India. One explanation for the chaotic manner in which the two independent nations came into being is the hurried nature of the British withdrawal.
