This phenomenon is due to inertia . Inertia resists the state of motion of a body .This is newtons first law. This is because the lower part of the body of the passenger starts moving with the bus but upper part tries to be at rest.

gungun38: can u please explain me in detail
DaIncredible: hey gungun I know about it can i explain? If you want me to
gungun38: ok mahak
gungun38: explain
gungun38: pls
gungun38: mehak where r uuuu
DaIncredible: Listen, as we know about inertia that inertia is that property of a body due to which it resists change in its state of rest or motion. So, when we use to travel in car, we tend to remain in our state of inertia,i.e., we remain to inertia of motion when car is moving. But when the car stops suddenly, then also we tend to remain in our state of inertia i.e. in motion, but the car is stopped, that's why passenger falls forward

When passenger is sitting or standing in a stationary bus both the bus and the passenger are at rest.

When the bus starts suddenly the lower part of the passengers's body starts moving forward with the bus.

But the upper part of the body tends to remain in the state of rest due to inertia of rest.

As a result, the passengers tends to fall backwards.
