Why people sitting in bus fall backward when bus suddenly starts?

This is because that The inertia of the persons sitting is on rest and according to the Newton's first law of gravitation , The object at rest will remain on rest unless any external force disturb it..so when a bus starts their interia is disturbed that's why they are pushed backwards.

When the bus stops suddenly, people fall forward because their inertia as they are in state of motion even when the bus has come to rest.
