The area of a shape is the number of unit squares required to completely cover it. Therefore, it is measured and expressed in square units.

But perimeter is the boundary of a shape

Hope this helps, mark this as the brainliest

Question:-

  • why perimeter is measured in units and area in square units

Answer:-

First let's talk about perimeter. So one very important you should note is that when we measure for perimeter all we do is addition.

So when you add you do not multiple the powers .

So when we find perimeter it's just to write a single unit i,e., cm, m ,etc..

  • Now going to area we multiple . so on multiplication there are two units so we write square
  • Ex- 2m×3m=6m²

How your confusion is now clear.
