why petrol is used in lightweigh vehicles but diesel is used in heavy trucks?

Because of their larger piston travel, hence they have higher load carrying capacity making them useful for trucks.

  • petrol engine basically used for high speed

Explanation:

everyone knows that petrol burns faster, so it helps to increase the speed of vehicle,

diesel burns slowly but produce so much power to pull the huge weight,

so light vehicle are not carry the heavy weight, the used as a family car and racing car, thus they need speed not heavy power. Whereas big vehicle like truck need the enough power to pull the weight, they didn't need higher speed, so to carry the goods they need heavy power, that power is given by diesel
