As food passes from the stomach into the small intestine, it stimulates the intestinal mucosa to secrete 2 hormones: cholecystokinin and secretin – these two hormones reduce the secretion of gastric juice and stimulates the release of pancreatic juice from the pancreas and bile from the liver.
