Our brain retains the effect of every sound for 0.1 sec and cannot distinguish between 2 sounds if they reach the brain within a duration of 0.1 second.This characteristic property of human hearing is called the persistence of hearing. In order to be heard as 2 sistinct sounds, the 2 sound signals must reach the brain at a time interval of more than 0.1 second.
