Why phloem parenchyma absent in most of the monocots?

Phloem parenchyma are absent in monocots because in monocots vascular bundles are open that is they lack cambium so no secondary growth takes place. Phloem parenchyma helps in food storage and in monocots this function is performed by water cavities.Phloem parenchyma performs the function of storage of food.
