Hey mate
☺☺☺
Phosphorous is highly reactive in nature especially white phosphorous. The ignite temperature of the phosphorus is near about 30 ºC which makes it extremely flammable in air. It reacts with oxygen present in the air and produces tricyclo. When it is stored in water it maintains its ignite temperature.
Thanks

Phosphorus is stored in water because it is highly reactive with the atmospheric oxygen .
