because when Phosphorus comes in contact with air it catches fire easily therefore it is kept in water
red phosphorus catches fire easily than white phosphorus red phosphorus is kept in kerosene

Hiii..
White phosphorus should kept under water as it is very dangerously reactive in air...
If we put it on our hands in air it will cause severe burn
