Curd and sour substances should not be kept in brass and copper as the sour substances are acidic in nature and react with the metallic surface of the brass and copper to form some toxic compound that may be unfit for health. Hence pickles and curd should not be stored in copper and brass utensils.

Because acids from curd (lactic acid) and pickles react with copper metal and form acidic salt which are toxic and hydrogen gas.

NB: Brass is also an allow containing copper so it will also react with acids.
