Pie i.e. 22/7 is used in maths because its value plays a very important role in most of calculations.E.g. for calculating area of circle, pie helps us.

by definition pie is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter .pie is always the number,no matter which circle you use to compute it .pie is useful because for the sake of usefulness people often used to approximate pie.
