why piece chalk wears out as it is used in blackboard

1. the chalk is made by CACO3.
2.but it is a crystle.
3.when we used it on the blackboard,the friction force acts on it.
4.thus the piece of chalk wears out..

The Piece of Chalk wears out due to friction.

A peice of chalk is made up of many fine particles and there are irregularities present in the black board. So, the particle present in the chalk tend to fill up the irregularities of the black board. and thats why the chalk wears out after some time.
