why pitcher plant feeds on insects

Pitcher feed on insects as it is found in marshy or swampy land which is deficient in nitrogen to over come this and fulfill nitrogen nourishment

Pitcher plants eat insects because these plants need more nitrogen for survive and this requirement can not be completed by soil.
