The northern plains of India aredensely populated because of the following reasons: They consist of large plain of alluvial soil and the deposition of alluvium in a vast basin lying at the foothills of the Himalaya over millions of years make this plainfertile

Plains are densly populated beacuse it is suitable for many livelihood activites such as agriculture. And rainfall is also adequate. People prefer living there instead of plataeu because it safe from natural calamities
