Why plants of hilly areas very tall and have pointed leaves?

The different parts of the plants are adapted to their habitat. The trees growing in hilly areas have needle-shaped leaf blades because it rains heavily in these regions and the needle-shaped leaves help the rainwater and snow to slide off easily.
