why plasma membrane is called selective permeable membrane
Answers
The plasma membrane is called a selectively permeable membrane as it permits the movement of only certain molecules in and out of the cells. If plasma membrane ruptures or breaks down then molecules of some substances will freely move in and out of the cells.

Hey mate.
Here's your answer.
Plasma membrane is the outer covering of all cells but it is present below the cell wall in plant cells. It is composed of phospholipid bilayer structure with embedded proteins and gives the mosaic-like appearance. Plasma membrane is a semi-permeable. It is also selectively or differentially permeable. Semi permeable means half permeable, i.e., plasma membrane will allow free transport of solvent like water across it but will not allow free transport of solute particles. For solute particles the plasma membrane is selectively or differentially permeable, i.e., it will allow only selected solute particles to pass through and will have differential permeability for different solute particles.
