Plaster of Paris or POP has the chemical formula,

➡ CaSO4.1/2 H2O

Preparation --

CaSO4.2H2O------------------------CaSO4.1/2 H2O . 1 1/2 H2O.
( Gypsum ). Heating at 100C (POP)

➡As clear from the formula , in plaster of Paris, there is a half molecule of water of crystallization attached . Hence , it's called plaster of Paris hemi hydrate .

Hope it helps you ✌✌
