formula of plaster of p ariz is CaSO4.1/2H2O
it has 1/2 water of crystallisation so it is hemi hydrate

Plaster of Paris or POP has the chemical formula,
➡ CaSO4.1/2 H2O
Preparation --
CaSO4.2H2O------------------------CaSO4.1/2 H2O . 1 1/2 H2O.
( Gypsum ). Heating at 100C (POP)
➡As clear from the formula , in plaster of Paris, there is a half molecule of water of crystallization attached . Hence , it's called plaster of Paris hemi hydrate .
