The rise of political parties is directly linked to the emergence of representative democracies. As society became larger and complicated, they also need some agency to gather different views on various issues and to present these to the government.Political parties perform an important task in government. They bring people together to achieve control of the government, develop policies favorable to their interests or the groups that support them, and organize and persuade voters to elect their candidates to office.

There are 535 members in the US Congress. Imagine you need to reconcile 535 totally different ideas. Forming political alliances at that point would be unavoidable in order to move forward.
