p(-1) = (-1)^2 - {3*(-1)} - 4 = 0
= 1 + 3 - 4
4-4 = 0
Therefore when we put -1 at the place of x the answer we get is 0
Therefore -1 is the value of p(x)

p(4) = (4)^2 - (3*4)-4 = 0
16 - 12 - 4
4-4 = 0
Therefore 4 is also the value of p(X)
Hope this will help you Buddy
