Question

Why polythenes are considered to be the major threat to our environment?

ANSWER :

The polythenes are considered  to be the major threat to our environment because -

  • The polythenes do not decompose, as they are non biodegradable wastes.
  • They used to block the drains.
  • When we burn them, air pollution is caused.
  • And if animals eat it, their intestine may block and the animals may die.

So,

We should avoid the use of polythenes.

Instead of them we can use paper bags, cloth bags or jute bags.

Recycle them, instead of burning.

Plastic Polythenes are considered as a threat to our Mother Earth.

Plastics are composed of large molecules consisting of monomers.

______________________________

Reasons :

⚫ Plastic is hard to get decomposed. plastic items can take up to 1000 years to decompose in landfills. As it is hard to dump it, Earth is today full of plastic which affects the life on Earth.

⚫Even after burning it, it causes Air pollution which again is a big problem.

How it affects the Life on Earth?

⚫ The dumping of plastic in oceans and other water bodies affect the Marine life.

Many of the Sea birds , turtles , fishes etc. die after ingesting plastic or getting entangled in it.

______________________________

⚫It affects the natural resources like soil. The illegal dumping of plastic makes the soil polluted.

⚫Not only marine life but animals like cattles while grazing eat up plastic Polythenes which harms them.
