Why population growth leads to deforestation?

Answer:
because there are more people and that means they need more space to live and more supplies that can be obtained from trees
Explanation:
For example, if there are suddenly 500 more people in a town, trees will be cut down to accomodate them and their families, basically to allow them to build houses.
Another explanation could be for agricultural purposes, because now that there are more people, there are more mouths to feed and more food needs to be grown
Also, for example, if someone wants sturdy furniture, they will most likely look at wooden furniture, since it can last a long time, which again means more deforestation.
