The following factors were responsible for the expansion of the population in Landon from the middle of the eighteenth century:

1. In search of employment: people from rural area moved to London to find new jobs in factories.

2. Job opportunity in offices: the development of offices attracted people from rural areas.

3. Therefore, the increase in population led to an extension of the workforce. Shortly the city became full of sellers and merchants, of small masters and skilled and semi-skilled artisans, of warriors and dependents, of casual workers, street sellers, and beggars.
