There are concerns regarding its position in the Modern Periodic table.
Even though,
in chemical properties it resembles alkali metals but it is not showing physical properties as metals so it is not considered as a metal. It is showing similarities to that of halogens even also it cannot consider as halogen.
Because of above reasons there is uncertainty regarding the position of Hydrogen whether it belong to Alkali metals or halogens. Now a day’s also discussions are going regarding the position of Hydrogen.
Arguments are going that it should be placed at the top of the periodic table. (Or) It should be placed in Carbon group, as it has similar properties to that of carbon.
