why potassium does not form K²+ ion?

Hey...!!!

Potassium does not form K2+ ion because if it donates 2 electrons then its configuration becomes 2,8,7....which is unstable...

Whereas if it donates only 1 electron, the configuration becomes 2,8,8 which is stable as it attains the configuration of an inert gas....that's why potassium forms K+ ion....
