why potassium has bigger atomic size than calcium

Although the two atoms have similar shielding effects and the same energy level, the difference in nuclear charge makes Ca atoms more attracted to the nucleus. As a result, Ca has a smaller radius than K.

The potassium has bigger atomic size than calcium because due to difference in nuclear charge the attraction between nucleus and more electrons of Ca then potassium it is increased the atomic radius of Ca is decreases due to contraction .
