Why potassium Hydroxide is kept in tight container.

Potassium Hydroxide is a very highly reacting and corrosive base. So as to prevent any unwanted change in its properties and to prevent accidents fire which pottasium Hydroxide catches when it comes in contact of air, we keep them in air tight containers.

So, an equal volume of water rises up in the tube. This shows that the germinating seeds are respiring out carbon dioxide.
