bsenthselvi: thank u sister for your response.but my question is why pottasium is having the electronic configuration 2.8.8.1 instead of 2.8.9
bsenthselvi: i think you are not understanding my question...any ways thanks a lot
bsenthselvi: sorry i could't understand Hindi

Potassium is 19th element in the periodic table.

1921 , According to Bohr and Burry..

1) The maximum no. of electrons in any orbit is given by the formula

2n ^{2}

where, n is the no. of the orbit.

1st orbit, No. of electrons

2 \times 1 ^{2} = 2

2nd orbit, No. of electrons

2 \times 2 ^{2} = 8

3rd orbit , No. of electrons

2 \times 3 ^{2} = 18

4th orbit, No. of electrons

2 \times 4 ^{2} =32

And normally the electronic configuration is 2.8.8.1.So, pottasium is having the electronic configuration 2.8.8.1

bsenthselvi: thanx brother
bsenthselvi: we can place 18 electrons in 3rd orbit but why we are playing 8 electrons
bsenthselvi: ooo ok brother
bsenthselvi: tnx a lot☺️☺️
