Why presence of producer of product is not essential while selling it to consumers

In the chain of selling a product,it is first manufactured by the producer and then handovered to the wholesale marketer and then to the shopkeeper and then finally it reaches the hand of the consumer....therefore it is not practically possible or not needed to sell the product in the presence of the producer .Moreover the producer gains his profit and runs the company through the money given by the wholesale marketer.
