SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The reason : The product ( 9 ) × ( - 5 ) × ( - 6 ) is negative while (- 9) *! ×(-5) X (-6) X (-1) is positive

EVALUATION

In the first product :

( - 9 ) × ( - 5 ) × ( - 6 )

= ( - 9 ) × 30 [ as ( - ) × ( - ) = ( + ) ]

= - 270 [ as ( + ) × ( - ) = ( - ) ]

In the second product :

( - 9 ) × ( - 5 ) × ( - 6 ) × ( - 1 )

= ( - 9 ) × ( - 5 ) × ( 6 ) [ as ( - ) × ( - ) = ( + ) ]

= ( - 9 ) × ( - 30 ) [ as ( + ) × ( - ) = ( - ) ]

= 270 [ as ( - ) × ( - ) = ( + ) ]

Reason :

In the first case there are odd number of negative sign and product of odd number of negative sign is negative

In the second case there are even number of negative sign and product of even number of negative sign is positive
