Hello!

Why prodution of starch is often used as a measure of photosynthesis?

This glucose is utilised by the plant and extra glucose is stored in form of starch in the leaves. As glucose gets utilised so its presence cannot be detected. But starch is stored in plants and it can be easily detected, hence production of starch is often used as a measure of photosynthesis in leaves

Thanks!

Answer:

Green plants absorb light energy using chlorophyll in their leaves. They use it to react carbon dioxide with water to make a sugar called glucose. The glucose is used in respiration, or converted into starch and stored. Oxygen is produced as a by-product
