Proteases are enzymes that help in breaking proteins. The cells of our body are made up of protein. If proteases were released in active form, our cells would have been eaten up by the enzyme.

Proteases are released in inactive form because they are enzymes that are required only when there needs to be a balance or breaking down of the formed proteins in the body. Proteases are enzyme molecules that digest the proteins that are present in the body, if this digestion happens continuously without any checkpoint the body’s metabolism will get affected and continuous translation will reduce the energy of the cell. Hence they are regulated by certain activators at times of need.
