Protein Digesting enzyme = Pepsinogen

This enzyme secretes in the Stomach in inactive form.

This is because this enzyme requires acidic medium to be active.

In Stomach, HCl is also released. It has two functions :-

(1) To kill the microbes

(2) To make the medium acidic so that Pepsinogen enzyme gets activated.

When this enzyme gets activated, it is converted into pepsin.

Pepsinogen -----> Pepsin.

When the enzyme activates, it starts Digesting the protein.
