Why proton has +1 charge?

Good question,

Here is your perfect answer!

Actually a proton has 2 up quarks and 1 down quark.

Up quark has charge of 2/3 and down quark has - 1/3 charge.

So the total charge of a proton = 2/3 + 2/3 +(-1/3)

= 4/3 - 1/3

= 3/3 = +1.

it's all because of quarks present inside them. Them here means in proton and neutron.

PROTON:- It consists of 2 up-quarks and 1 down-quarks. Up-quarks and down-quarks have values +2/3 and -1/3 respectively. Now add them, 2(+2/3)+(-1/3)=+1. Therefore it has positive charge.

NEUTRON:- It consists of 1 up-quarks and 2 down-quarks. Up-quarks and down-quarks have values +2/3 and -1/3 respectively. Now add them, (+2/3)+2(-1/3)=0. Therefore it has no/neutral charge.

ELECTRON:- Electrons are dot particle. They are dimensionless. So, they don't have quarks. Since it's being equal puled by positive charge we know its negative(-) and therefore has value -1.

Do research on how quarks got there values for more deep knowledge. Its fun!!! Atlest you know how proton, neutron and electron got there values.
