why pure irons are not used to make permanent magnet?

As the soft Iron cannot retain the electro magnetism after electric flow is stopped in the coil wound around the soft iron soft iron not used formaking a permanent magnet. so thepermanent magnets are made by themagnetic substances which can retainmagnetism and have more retentivity like steel........✌✌
