Answer:

Railway junctions developed into towns and cities because these places were the major attraction for people due to the transport facility. Since the time the railways were introduced in India by the British, it made travelling easier. The junctions from where trains of different routes departed and trains from different destinations arrived became the hubs of human settlements. Population grew around these junctions as these places became the focal point of travel for numerous people. In relation to these junctions, settlements developed within few kilometres leading to the formation of villages, towns and cities. Railway junctions became the points of connectivity.
