Answer:

Why are they disappearing?

Rainforests are very important but they are disappearing very quickly. They used to cover 14% of the world but now only 6% of the  world. If this keeps up, our rainforests are estimated to disappear in 40 years. We are losing 137 plant, animal and insect species every single day because of deforestation, which means up to 50,000 species a year are disappearing! Deforestation can be caused by using chainsaws and bulldozers which the wood is then used for paper, fire wood, timber and other materials. Deforestation happens because of farming, where farmers who are poor, clear some of the rainforest to plant crops to make more money. Another way is ranching, were ranchers clear rainforests in order to raise cattle. Finally, there is logging, when trees are cut down and used for building, furniture, pulping for paper products.

How can we help them?

  • Teach others about the importance of saving the rainforests .
  • Plant new trees to replace the ones cut down .
  • Encourage people to live in a way so the environment isn't hurt .
  • Make more National parks so that the rainforests can be protected .

Explanation:

Humans are the main cause of rainforest destruction. We are cutting down rainforests for many reasons, including:

  • Wood for both timber and making fires;
  • Agriculture for both small and large farms;
  • Grazing land for cattle;
  • Road construction; and
  • Extraction of minerals and energy.
